Que més podem dir sobre el tema Catalunya, Anglaterra? Que a Anglaterra els politics es queden a casa durant el cap de setmana i no surten a la tele acudint a congresos i calçotades setmana si setmana si també.
Que a Catalunya els trens no van bé, pero a Anglaterra a banda d'anar pitjor, són tan cars que no pots ni pujar.
Que els anglesos tendeixen a no beure aigua amb els menjades, sinò te, llet, refrescs .... Que els catalans pensen que un bon vi és per acompanyar una menjada, mentre els anglesos pensen que menjar mentre estas bevent alcohol és una llastima ja que tardes més en emborratxar-te.

Una cosa que sempre m'ha xocat és veure com molta gent aquí es canvia de roba continuament durant el dia. Canvien per anar al super, per anar al cine, per anar al metge, fins i tot quan arriben a casa. Els anglesos (repeteixo, estic generalitzant, no penso en David Beckham o el Princip Carles) porten la mateixa roba a tot arreu ... aixo no vol dir que som bruts, però, ja que jo almenys intento canviar de calçotets cada mes, estiguen bruts o no .....

Catalan politicians spend their weekends appearing at different activities so as to make sure they are on the news 7 days a week. The English don't, usually. Thank God for small mercies!

Catalan trains run just as badly as the English ones but at half the price. A bargain!

While many English believe that eating while you are indulging in alcoholic drinks is a waste of time, delaying the oncoming "happy" feeling, the Catalans actually believe wine is for accompanying meals!

Catalan people seem to look after their appearance with regular changes of clothing during the same day, even to go to the cinema where surely no one can see you! They usually get changed as soon as they get home so as to keep their "nice" clothes clean for the following day. In my experience, the English don't. That's not to say the English are "dirty" - I, for one, change my underpants every month whether they need washing or not....

Parlant del futbol, per a canviar, a Catalunya - pel que veig - hi ha una barreja de sentiments en vers l’equip d’Espanya. Cosa normal, ja que per molt poca gràcia que fa als catalans que no poden tenir una selecció pròpia i que amb l’equip d’Espanya ens omplen el cap de nacionalisme espanyol, també és trist no poder viure esdeveniments com el Mundial sense recolsar cap equip.

Els grans moments esportius com les Olimpiades o els Mundials, no sé com els catalans els poden gaudir amb la mateixa intensitat que els anglesos, francesos, alemanys per exemple. És molt fotut! Per això, entenc que a alguns els fa gràcia que guanyen els veïns, i més quan la meitat de l’equip és del Barça. Per mi, però, les contres pesen més que els pros i no puc animar a l’equip que simbolitza als que no deixen participar a Catalunya.

Però, bé, només és un joc i que guanyi els millors – de moment entre els quals s’inclou Suïssa!

D'Anglaterra, ara per ara, no ens podem queixar! Encara que es pensa que els americans són dolents jugant a soccer, la veritat és que empatar contra un país amb 7 vegades més població per triar jugadors, no està mal. Mirant el costat positiu, també tenim tres porters per anar fent proves, i el fet és que si Rooney i Gerard marquen un sac de gols, la qüestió de la defensa no serà tan important!

Back to football for a change. From what I can see there is a mixed bag of feelings regarding the Spanish football team here in Catalonia. Given that Catalonia is not allowed to have its own team, and the Spanish team is used to support or elevate Spanish nationalism, it is not surprising that many Catalans wish little good for their neighbours. However, can you imagine living through a World Cup or Olympic Games with no team of your own to support? For this reason, it is not surprising either that others do find themselves egging on, openly or otherwise, the Spanish team. Besides which it’s half the Barça team anyway!
For me, though, the political and injust treatment Spain dishes out to Catalonia outweighs any wish for Puyol and company to win silverware.

Having said that, it’s only a game – may the best team win! And at the moment that includes Switzerland among the candidates!

England – ehmm! Well, trying for something positive, we have to remember that the population of the USA is 7 times ours, so gaining a draw against them is not so bad. And we do have two other goalkeepers to try out. And if Gerard and Rooney start banging them in, who’ll care about the defense?
