September Gurls - Big Star

Un dia trist pels amants de la música – ahir, va morir Alex Chilton a l’edat de 59 anys. Qui? Alex Chilton i la seva música tant en solitari com amb el seu grup Big Star, no ha arribat mai a tenir la fama o popularitat que mereix a nivell del públic en general. No obstant això, és reconegut com un dels grans autors de cançons i ha sigut un font d’inspiració per molts altres artistes que vindrien desprès. La seva carrera ha durat des dels anys 60 fins avui en dia, però son les gravacions amb Big Star als principis dels 1970 que són la seva carta de presentació.

A sad day for music. Alex Chilton died yesterday, at the age of 59. Who, I hear somebody ask? Alex’s solo work and with his group, Big Star, never hit the mainstream but many groups and artists name him as one of their chief inspirations, a Song-writer with a capital S. Writing and performing excellent songs ever since the 60s, perhaps it was his early-70s work with Big Star which really showed us what a talented person he was.
