No m'importa qui guanya el FA Cup, la Copa d'Anglaterra - Stoke City o Manchester City. No tinc cap preferencia, però si que trobo bonic que dos equips que normalment no són dels "grans" (encara que Man City ho pensa), competeixen al final. Però si que puc aprofitar per penjar aquesta cançó, ja que els del Stoke ho prenen com el seu anthem.

Stoke vs Man City in the FA Cup Final. I have no preferences either way, but am pleased to see two underdogs (one multi-millionaire underdog, and a poorer one) make it all the way for a change. Apparently Stoke fans like this track, and so do I.

It's not unusual - Tom Jones
Barrejant la música amb alguna noticia de l’actualitat .... algunes noticies d’aquesta setmana que m’han cridat l’atenció – la nevada més gran a Barcelona en 50 anys, i la gent queixant de falta de previsió i preparació. Home, estaria una mica estrany estar preparats per a la neu a Barcelona! El que passa, trobo jo, és que a les grans ciutats viuen tan al límit que qualsevol incident pot col·lapsar tot. El que si que no té nom, però, són les torres de la llum que han caigut, i el fet que molta gent ha passat 5 dies sense electricitat ... mentrestant, el diumenge passat uns 5 o 10 mil persones van manifestar-se en contra de l’instal·lació del cementeri nuclear a Ascó, i el dijous la majoria del Parlament de Catalunya també ha votat en contra ... i la Comissió Europea ha dit que Espanya haurà de adjudicar un caudal mínim pel riu Ebre en el nou Pla de Conca, cosa que sospitem que no vol fer ja que prefereix repartir l’aigua pels regadius i altres usos abans de protegir els ecosistemes del riu ... l’alegria dels fans del Barça ha sigut monumental veient com el Real Madrid ha quedat fora dels Champions, i més si escoltem les opinions pre-partit on els comentaristes madridistes prometien que no podien fallar, que guanyarien per 4 o 5 gols ... de les noticies internacionals, no tinc gaire a dir ja que tot continua igual, l’única cosa és la decepció en saber que Obama no vol que els americans tornin a la lluna ...
... no sé si la cançó d’avui té alguna cosa a vore amb res de tot això, però és igual. Avui, fa 45 anys, Tom Jones estava al numero 1 de les llistes d’èxit angleses amb It’s Not Unusual (Reed/Mills).

Apart from music, the other aim of the blog is to look at a few local news items from time to time, so here goes ... this week saw the heaviest snowfall in Barcelona in 50 years, and people complaining about the lack of warning or readiness. It does seem a bit picky, though – a Mediterranean city, which might see a few snowflakes every decade, has to be ready to deal with 6 inches of snow? However, the electricity going off (and pylons literally keeling over) due to this snowfall and staying off for 5 days, and counting, is yet another example of electricity companies raking in the money when the going’s good but not there when you need them ... last weekend between 5 and 10 thousand people demonstrated against the installation of a nuclear waste dump here in the Terres de l’Ebre (Lower Ebro region, southern Catalonia), which was followed up by a vote in the Catalan Parliament also against this dump ... the European Commission has stated that Spain cannot ignore EU regulations and must set a figure for a minimum flow in the river Ebro so as to protect its ecosystems, rather than just sharing out any water available among agriculture and industry ... the best news of the week for most Barcelona FC fans was Real Madrid being knocked out of the Champions’ League, especially when we playback the pre-match commentaries on Spanish radio, modestly predicting Madrid to win by 4 or 5 goals ... international news, not much to say, pretty much more of the same really, but was disappointed to hear Obama does not want the USA to go back to the moon...
