Excerpt from a Teenage Opera

Legend has it that you are allowed to break the Golden Rule of "Don't re-post the same old songs on your blog" when it's your birthday. So, happy birthday to me and today I'll repeat one of my fave tunes. I don't have just one favourite song, but there are a few which go round and round my "top 20" for different reasons - usually a mixture of bringing back great memories plus having everything I like in a decent ditty (in this case, simple understandable lyrics, great chorus to hum along to, trumpets, violins, children's choirs, a certain touch of strangeness and/or originality ...).
 So here goes ...

  1. Slightly belated birthday greetings old chap. It's one a.m. and I am still sobbing about Hull City's defeat to Southampton. Boo-hoo! Of course I have heard your birthday song before but I didn't know who it was by so thanks for sharing that one. A very odd composition.

  2. Thank you. 47 and going strong .... apparently.
Yep, if you look for my previous post on the same song I put a bit of background info about the "opera" project which this song was supposed to be part of - alternatively you can read the info first hand at Wikipedia or Amazon! Which is where I've ordered (for my birthday present) the full album they put together, 30 years later!
