Un grup de gent de Tortosa i Roquetes, i potser altres pobles dels voltants, que ens agrada utilitzar la bicicleta per desplaçar-nos dins la ciutat: ens hem unit per intentar millorar alguns aspectes de la planificació urbana envers l'us de la bici, i, com a somni, intentar promoure que més gent agafa la bici! Ens diem Me Moc En Bici, perque principalment és el que fem ...
... per mi, que ja fa uns anys que estic aquí, no he acabat d'entendre mai per que la gent de Tortosa no utilitza la bici - per anar a l'escola, a l'institut, a la feina, a la compra, ... trobo que Tortosa és una ciutat perfecta. És petita, la pots creuar de banda a banda en 10 minuts en bici, molt més rapid que anar a peu. Fins i tot, més rapid que en cotxe, perque el segon motiu per a mi, és que Tortosa està fatal per a conduir, sempre et trobes amb embussos i semafors a les hores puntes, i de vegades pots tardar 10 minuts només buscant aparcament! Tortosa és basicament plana, o almenys en un 90% de la seva extensió. La clima - perfecte!! No plou mai, i no fa ni fred ni calor. Els jovens que han de carregar amb 8 kilos de llibres - molt millor a la panera de la bici, que penjant a l'esquena. I sigui .... fins i tot altres pobles propers ho demostren ja que quan hi vas, veus un munt de gent, jovens i grans, en bicicleta. Però, serà que Tortosa és diferent?
En fi, a vore si poc a poc anem animant la gent i fent cosetes .... com no podria ser d'altra manera, també tenim Twitter, Facebook i Bloc si voleu seguir-nos, o millor encara apuntar-vos al grup (totalment informal) i entre tots farem de Tortosa una ciutat bike-friendly!

Tortosa, a quaint little town here in the south of Catalonia is an ideal place for getting around by bike. It's small, flat, and with a Mediterranean climate (dry!!). Added to that, the problems for getting around by car and finding a parking place makes it ideal for cycling to work, school, the shops and so on. Much better, quicker, easier, and cheaper. But, hardly anyone does use their bike compared to similar towns. Why? Who knows.
However, those of us who do have come together to form an informal group of "urban cyclists" called Me Moc En Bici (I get around by bike). Hopefully we can encourage others to get their bikes out, and offer suggestions to those "up above" on how the town planning can be developed to improve things and make Tortosa "bike-friendly". When we're not cycling, we also have Twitter, Facebook, and Blog, of course, so feel free to follow our activities or, even better, join us :)
